Dogs teach us a lot of things, but none more important than to love unconditionally....
Frequently Asked Questions
Why don't you have a standard waiting list? After 10 years of managing a waiting list we have decided to venture out and do it differently. We feel it is better for the family adopting, and for us! With this process you are not putting several deposits in with numerous breeders in hopes of getting a puppy of you dreams. And possibly waiting years for that opportunity. And we are able to spend all those hours with our puppies and dogs instead of managing the waiting list. -We do NOT take a deposit. -We do NOT have a waiting list.
Is this process stressful? It can feel stressful on adoption morning. I would recommend having 1-3 puppies picked out for your family. If you are not very techy it would be nice to find someone to help you with the checkout part, it's not hard but if you are not used to checking out online it could be overwhelming. We have been doing a waiting list for a decade now and it to is stressful on selection day! The good news is that Cavapoos in general have a very even temperament so much of the choosing is based off of your color and coat preference.
While all adoptions can feel a bit overwhelming or stressful it is also a very exciting time! And in all the years of doing this I have never had anyone say I wish I would have chosen a different puppy! It always seems to work out as it should! So have fun with it and don't stress!
How much are your puppies? Our puppies are priced based on temperament, color, confirmation and coat and range from $4,000 to $6,000. Prices of each puppy to be determined at 5-6 weeks of age shortly before they are posted for adoption.
What are my payment options: Square Business excepts Visa, MasterCard, Amex, & Discover in debt or credit. The credit card fee is payed by us. *Before you purchase we recommend notifying your credit card company or bank in case they flag it as a fraudulent purchase. Let your bank or credit card company know you will be making this purchase from 406 Acres LLC. This will eliminate any stress upon adoption day!
When are your puppies available for adoption? Between 5 and 6 weeks old. At this age we have a good sense of coat, personalities, size & confirmation. Once a litter is born the adoption day and go home date will be listed. How do I know when puppies are coming? -Breeding plans will always have a button under "puppies", that page is always updated when we have any new news. -Once the litter is born I will post one picture of the litter, the number of puppies, sex and colors we had. -I will also post the date that the puppies will be available for adoption as well as the open house date. -Occasionally I will put a picture or video on FaceBook & Instagram -Then at 6-7 weeks of age I will put each puppy on this website, with numerous pictures, video, coat type, temperament breakdown and prices .
Why are your prices higher than most other breeders? We go by the old stand by "anything worth doing is worth doing well" or in our minds excellent! A great puppy starts with great parents, we look at health, temperament and confirmation, all three of these are a must. And a happy mama and papa also play a huge roll, so lots of attention, free leash walks, on leash training, swimming or romping in the snow, are all in a daily routine for our adult dogs. We do NOT have kennel dogs! It is a huge priority at 406 that our dogs have an outstanding life! Our puppies are exposed to a whole list of socialization and handling everyday so that all 406 puppies go to their new homes with the correct start. Not to mention all the office work, grooming, sanitizing and cleaning it takes to be sure our doggies are healthy, clean and happy! We have a high standard of what is acceptable, and that takes lots of time, which also means lots of financial investment. But with that comes an amazing outcome! We LOVE what we do, we have the best family and employees that poor their heart and soul into every heart beat on this place daily! Check out 406, you won't be disappointed.

This option would mean you would pay for 3 months of training and the cost of the puppy. We understand that this may not be an option for everyone. If you are interested in this option please reach out to us directly via text, call or email and we would be happy to discuss this further.
What colors are your puppies? We breed for Tri's, Reds, Phantom Merle's, and Phantom's aka black and tan.

What is the 406 preparation page? We have a password protected "preparation" link on this website that has additional information that we have learned and researched to help you prepare for your puppy. This will also help you raise your puppy into a healthy, happy adult with nutrition and training advice.
What is the "litter Instagram group" all about? We have found that having a private Instagram litter group has been an amazing tool. It is so nice to have others that are going through the same stages of raising a puppy. Not to mention getting to share tips and tricks! It is a place where you can chat freely and share picture and videos.
What are the different generations in Cavapoos? F1 – is a first generation cross, in which the pup is 50% Cavaler King Charles and 50% poodle. The F1 cross is considered the healthiest, as the parents have the least likelihood of contributing genes for common inheritable diseases. F1b – is a backcross in which a Cavapoo is bred with a Poodle or Cavalier. . F2 – is a second-generation cross, in which an F1 Cavapoo is crossed with another F1 Cavapoo.
What are the different coat types of a Cavapoo? Straight is the most like to shed but will need less daily brushing and regular clipping. Wavy is a nice mix of the two, very little shedding, and not too much daily grooming needed. Curly is going to be non-shedding (generally) and the best for those with allergies but require more brushing and clipping. While Cavapoo's vary in appearance and coat type, an experienced breeder will be able to give you an idea of what the pup will look like as an adult, based on what the parents have produced in the past and what traits they see in the pup. ***By the time the puppies are 5-6 weeks old I can usually know what coat type they will have.
Can I visit my puppy before I pick it up to take it home? Yes! We usually have a puppy visiting for those interested in getting a puppy. Generally this visit takes place around 5-6 weeks old just before they become available for adoption.
Do you remove the due claws? Yes, rears only.
What does my puppy come home with?
first set of shots at 8 weeks old.
de-worming at 4, 6 and 8 weeks old.
puppy plasma given at 12hrs old to boost immune systems
vet checked at 8 weeks of age
rear dew claws removed
blanket that smells like mom/siblings
very well-started on potty training, crate training and the basic commands
small bag of food
spay/neuter contract
invite to your litters private Instagram group.
access to our "406 Preparation" page
and of course lifetime support from us!
Will you let my puppy fly home with me? Yes!
Are your puppies/dogs in your home? Yes!
Can I come visit your home and dogs/puppies? Sometimes, but it is very limited. We do have a puppy open houses, so if you are either on our puppy list, or seriously considering a puppy, this maybe the best time for you to visit. As you can imagine we would have a continual "tour" going if we didn't limit this. It would be hard for us to get all of our work with our dogs done or have family time. Not to mention the more people who come to see our dogs the more our puppies and dogs are exposed to in way of diseases.
What if something happens and I can no longer care for my Cavapoo? We will ALWAYS take our puppies back and be sure they are in the perfect home for them.
Are there treats, or toys that you recommend? Yes- once you have put a deposit down you will receive a password. Then, you can go under the "406 preparation" link to get a lot more info on these types of things and what I recommend.
What size collar do you recommend for me to get for when I pick up my puppy? Information on this is also under the "406 Preparation" link.
Can I stay in contact with you after I get my puppy? YES! Please do! We love to hear about our puppies and how they are doing. Plus, we are always here to help you with any struggles you maybe having with your pup/dog. And, in general we just enjoy updates on how things are going. Furthermore, please know that if you are ever having any health or temperament problems with your puppy/dog I must be notified immediately. It is very important for our breeding program to know what is going on with our puppies as they age. This is also stated in our contract.
Do you sell any of your dogs with breeding rights? Yes, on occasion. Please contact me if this is something you are interested in and we can talk (otherwise, all our puppies are sold with a strict spay/neuter contract).
Do you stud out your stud dogs? Yes sometime, too approved & health tested bitches.
Do you microchip your puppies? You get to choose. This has been a subject of controversy, and so it is up to you. If you choose not to now but decide later to, I would recommend that you do it at the time of spay or neuter. It does not add to the price of your puppy if you choose for us to do this.
Will my puppy be upto date on shots and worming? Yes, of course, your puppy is de wormed at 3, 5, and 7 weeks and your puppy will be up to date on all puppy shots. (Records of this will be passed on to you when you recieve your puppy.)
Can I get copies of the parents heath clearances? Yes, There are copies of the parents health certs and pedigree's on the password protection preparation page.
Can you tell how many puppies a mom is having? Not accurately. We used to try to do x-rays but it was never accurate. So now we ultrasound 30 day's after ovulation to confirm pregnancy and usually get an idea of it's a big or small litter. But nothing accurate on a puppy count.
Do you know how many boys vs girls will be born? No we can not tell that until the puppies are born.
How long is a dogs gestation? Its about 9 weeks from ovulation. We generally know within a couple of days what the due date is.
Will my puppy fade or change color? The fading gene comes from the poodle and at this point it is not genetically testable, so yes your puppy could change color or fade and no breeder can guarantee that there puppies won't fade.
How much food do they eat? It is best to look at the dog food feeding guidelines to get an accurate idea of this. Each food is a little different. I would roughly say a full grown Cavapoo will eat about 1-1 1/2 cups a day.
What if I buy a puppy but before puppy comes home I have some life changes? Often things unexpectedly come up in life. So we will do what we can to accommodate that. It maybe an option to put your puppy in training either here with our trainer or near you. Or it maybe we find another wonderful family to take your puppy and you wait till life is more suitable for a puppy. This is a huge commitment and we don't want a puppy to go to a home that is not ready or can't be fully committed. We do NOT offer refunds. So you would possibly end up with a credit with us, it is a case by case decision.
Feeding recommendations: Feeding & nutritional recommendations will all be posted under the "406 Preparation". Password will be given to you have purchased your puppy. You can also click here to view the puppies at 406!
Our Veterinarian Recommendation
Kelsey Baver DVM
To Whom It May Concern,
Congratulations in advance on your search for a new family member!
If you are looking for a puppy from 406 Acres, you’ve come to the right place.
Tori and her staff treat their dogs with respect, compassion, and as part of the family. Their dogs are kept in clean areas, allowed to play outside, taken for walks around the acreage daily, and lead engaging, interactive lives. This is not a puppy mill environment, more of a pack of happy dogs.
Tori and her staff communicate effortlessly and involve a veterinarian if any of the dogs need medical attention. However, because of their experience and robust breeding programs, this is rarely needed. All dogs are kept up to date on their vaccines and deworming to ensure their health.
All dogs within the breeding program are tested and proven to be free of negative genetic health issues. You can see their testing results on the website. If a dog does not meet or beat the standard for breeding, Tori will spay or neuter it and find a quality pet home instead of keeping it in her breeding program.
Tori and her staff are up front, honest, and will help resolve any issues should one arise. They stand behind the healthy dogs they breed.
I hope you find the perfect puppy for your family. Sincerely, Kelsey Baver, DVM
